Technically is not a “bag” and is instead a case as stated by the hinged design. In any case, this bag is intended to make a statement, especially on formal occasions. Often, about the size of a clutch or envelope clutch. Moreover, the rigid sides of Minaudiere will usually be decorated with some bright accent. Sometimes, this type of bag will come with a strap that is long enough to provide an elegant fall.

This is actually a relatively recent development in the industry and is really just a pair of hand muffs with a bag on them. Because of the functional design of this handbag, sleeves are more or less worn exclusively with cold weather clothing. That said, sleeves have a tendency to be made of high quality materials and as such, are a bit more elegant than casual. Of course, there are still many exceptions to this rule, especially if you go bargain hunting.

This is literally just a bag that has either a drawstring closure or occasionally a zipper. This is one of the smallest types of bags available and rarely can fit more than one smartphone and a couple of cards. The cord usually serves the same function as a wristlet bag’s does, though the pouch bag is often a bit smaller. This bag not really have a dress code and it will be dependent on the accents and design.

This is another handbag that is not really its own kind but refers to a style that many bags can be used. Hobo bags and wrapped clutches are the most common silhouettes that will use the technique of quilting. This is because the quilted bags are inherently clunky and can not stand alone without any reinforcement. A padded bag also take the features of any type of bag silhouette used. That said, the technique prevents this from being generally appropriate for anything beyond casual attire.

20. Saddlebag

Takes after the name from the fact that it is based on traditional saddlebags used prior to using automobiles. These bags are usually quite large and have more capacity than most. Saddlebag is also less likely to be made of fabric and leather instead. This bag has an upper portion which bends and closes with a clasp as a messenger bag. Saddlebags have a softer, rounded bottom with a long strap that allows the bag to be worn crossbody. Needless to say that this is almost strictly a casual bag.
